Bio
Francisco Hernandez has been a dedicated and passionate basketball coach since 2015, bringing over nine years of experience to the court. His coaching journey began with grassroots programs, where he quickly gained a reputation for his strategic mind and ability to inspire players.
In 2019, Coach Hernandez took a significant step forward by coaching at the semi-professional level with the Tiburones de Aguadilla in Puerto Rico. Under his leadership, the team achieved a franchise record by reaching the elite eight, marking a historic milestone for the organization.
Coach Hernandez then moved on to a head coach position at the post-graduate level at Central Pointe Christian Academy in Orlando, Florida. He also served as the Assistant Director of Basketball Operations, further honing his administrative and coaching skills.
In 2021, Coach Hernandez became the Head Coach at Florida Palms University, a sister school to Atlantis University. Despite being the university's first year with a basketball program, Francisco's leadership led to an impressive 16-14 record. His efforts culminated in winning the Independent College Conference Championship in the 2021-22 season.
Following the merger of Florida Palms University with Atlantis University, Coach Hernandez was named Director of Basketball Operations and Assistant Basketball Coach. His impact was felt immediately, and after a year of departmental changes, he was appointed Athletic Administrator and Head Men's Basketball Coach in 2024.
Coach Hernandez brings a renewed energy and a winning culture to Atlantis University. His philosophy centers on building a family-like atmosphere within the team, which he believes is crucial for success. Francisco is committed to making history by leading Atlantis University to a championship and establishing a legacy of excellence.
Coach Hernandez's career is a testament to his dedication, strategic insight, and ability to foster solid, cohesive teams. He continues to inspire and lead with a vision of creating a championship-winning program at Atlantis University.
Additionally, Coach Hernandez has an impressive player background. He played four years of college basketball at St. Ambrose University in Iowa, where he graduated with a degree in Sports Management. He also played semi-professional basketball in Puerto Rico. Francisco holds a sports psychology certification and is pursuing an MBA in business.
